About me
Hi. I'm Uday Bhaskar.
I'm an independent researcher focusing on Intelligence Amplification using Language Models. I am currently working on optimally Scaling RL on Language Models across Systems, Environments, Algorithms, Infrastructure, Training and Inference.

Previously, I worked on Deep Learning in High Risk Applications at Machine Learning Lab, IIIT Hyderabad. Before that, I pursued athletics for major part of my teenage years and failed.
Some general things about me:
- I strongly believe technology and entrepreneurship together can potentially solve almost every problem humans face and may face in the future, including those created by technology itself.
- I enjoy building stuff and solving problems, especially if it has potential to create value.
- The best feeling in the world, to me, is when my work is in people's hands, getting them excited about it. When its deeply integrated in their lives, making it better than if it didn't exist. That's what Apple did for me when I was a kid, and since then, I've always wanted to know how it feels to be on the other side.
- A small, highly motivated team beating large corporations at their own game excites me the most. History is full of such amazing stories.

Progress in the world comes in two forms:
- Expanding our understanding of the fundamentals of the universe
- Leveraging our existing knowledge to innovate and add value
- I am fascinated by Deep Learning; it is almost indistinguishable from magic. The amazing thing about deep learning is that if you get a team of smart people together with enough compute, time and capital, and give them a fixed eval, there is almost no problem that can't be solved. I have absolutely no idea why it works, but it just blows my mind. Deep Learning just works. Never bet against it.
Some personal things about me:
- I embrace minimalism (in most aspects of life), valuing simplicity and functionality without compromising on design.
- I am an extreme optimist and prefer viewing the world from this perspective.
- I live my life one week at a time. Months are too long and inconsistent, days are too short and unpredictable. Measuring most aspects of life in weeks is perfect for me.
- I spend most of my leisure time watching movies or playing sports.
- Cinema is my favorite form of art, in which Christian Bale, Tom Cruise, Hans Zimmer and Christopher Nolan are my favorite artists. My four favourites are Interstellar, Ford vs Ferrari, The Dark Knight and Gladiator. My favourite TV shows are Silicon Valley, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Daredevil.
- I enjoy watching cricket. My favorite cricket teams are Australia, New Zealand and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
- I like lists. Lists are amazing. I even have a list of all the lists I actively maintain.
- Caffeine is my favorite drug. Espresso and Diet Coke are my favorite beverages. Diet Coke is the greatest commercially available beverage ever made in my opinion.
- Everyday I am grateful to everyone that built the world we live in today.
